Blasticidin is a nucleoside antibiotic used for the selection of recombinant Leishmania strains. It can also be used for the selection of other recombinant organisms expressing the bsd marker gene (blasticidin-resistance of Aspergillus terreus).

For selection of recombinant Leishmania strains LEXSY BSD is added to the growth medium to a final concentration of 10 μg/ml.
